Automobile wrecks, workers' compensation injuries, slip and falls, and other personal injuries have a significant impact on the life of the injured person. Often, injured persons are unable to work due to the injury, which greatly impacts the family. Injuries can also persist for the life of injured person.

I can also help plan your Estate, before death. Failure to plan for death can cause major problems for loved ones left behind. Do not delay the drafting of a Will. If death occurs without a Will, not you, but the laws of the State of Tennessee determine how property is distributed.

A DUI conviction can have a significant impact, including a jail sentence, fines, and loss of driving privileges - which often lead to job loss. An arrest for DUI does not mean a conviction. Procedures must be followed by the police and the arrest must comply with the Constitution, particularly the 4th Amendment, which prohibits "unreasonable searches and seizures." The moment the blue lights are turned on, a "seizure" occurs. An experienced attorney knows what to look for, and the questions to ask the officer, to make the argument the DUI arrest violates the Constitution and the case should be dismissed.

Divorce is a major financial lawsuit - the court will divide your assets, and is supposed to do so "equitably"; however, under Tennessee law, an "equitable" division of assets does not necessarily mean an "equal" division.
Divorce is also a major emotional lawsuit when children are involved. Gone are the days when the court presumed a child of "tender years" belonged in the custody of the mother. The Court considers numerous factors in determining to whom custody of a child should be awarded.

Insurance companies sometimes wrongfully deny fire and life insurance claims, or, alternatively, try to pay substantially less than the policy limits.
In Tennessee, bad faith failure to pay the claim can result in additional penalties assesed to the insurance company.
Tenn. Code Ann. 56-7-105 provides for a 25% "bad faith" penalty for failure to pay a legitimate insurance claim within 60 days after demand has been made by the holder of the policy.
